building block dress online book tour wrap up
Well, that was certainly a blast! Watching how our friends who joined the online segment of the Building Block Dress book tour crafted their own dresses using techniques from the book was absolutely delightful. I hope you found it as enjoyable as I did. Were you inspired by any of the creative approaches showcased during the tour? The diversity in styles was incredible, and I truly hope at least one of them sparked some inspiration within you.

I found it fascinating to observe how each participant managed to express their individual style while working within the foundational framework provided by the book. Given that most folks were trying these techniques for the very first time, nearly everyone decided to make only minor tweaks to the dress patterns. This is exactly how I suggest you begin your journey too—pick one or two features you particularly adore and give them a shot. As you grow more confident, you'll naturally be drawn to experimenting with more complex modifications. I'll delve deeper into this idea in the coming weeks after you've had a chance to practice and settle into the process. Rest assured, I have plenty of fresh ideas to share that will show you even more ways to utilize the book!
In the meantime, as the online leg of the book tour has officially concluded, I'm busy finalizing travel arrangements, organizing my teaching supplies, and preparing for the upcoming in-person events across the U.S. My first stop will be Houston. As you might already know, I predominantly used Kaufman fabrics for the dresses featured in the Building Block Dress book. Their extensive selection of apparel fabrics—ranging from denim and twill to corduroy, lawn, sateen, and beyond—is simply fantastic. In fact, I admire Kaufman so much that I even created a collection exclusively for them!
