building block dress online book tour wrap up

Well, wasn't that a blast? I absolutely loved seeing how all our friends who joined the online leg of the Building Block Dress book tour put their own spin on the dresses they made using the techniques from the book. I hope you had as much fun checking them out as I did sharing them. Did any of the projects inspire you? With such a diverse array of styles, there's bound to be something that caught your eye. ![bbdtour_wrapupt](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/564a31164504435145d9cc34f12cb692.jpg) What struck me most was how each participant managed to infuse their personal style into the foundational designs provided in the book. For many, this was their first time diving into the patterns from the book, and it was fascinating to see how almost everyone made slight tweaks to the original dress pattern. I always recommend starting small—pick one or two aspects you love and give them a go. As you grow more confident, you'll feel ready to experiment with more complex modifications. I'll delve deeper into this journey in future posts, after you've had some hands-on experience and feel more comfortable with the process. Trust me, I have plenty of tricks and ideas to share along the way! Now that the online portion of the book tour has wrapped up, I'm switching gears. I'm currently packing my suitcase, organizing my teaching materials, and gearing up for the U.S.-based in-person events. My first stop will be Houston. But don't worry if you're not near any of the cities I'll be visiting—there's still plenty of excitement waiting for you! I'll spill all the details later this week, but let's just say it involves a fun contest centered around fabric exploration *and* some awesome prizes. The best part? You can involve your entire family in this one! We've partnered with one of my favorite fabric brands, Robert Kaufman, to bring you this special event. ![bbd-book-contest](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/9af10bbe2cd7beb2c3793edd6b591090.jpg) If you're familiar with the Building Block Dress book, you might remember that I used mainly Kaufman fabrics for the featured garments. They offer a fantastic selection of apparel fabrics, ranging from denim and twill to corduroy, lawn, sateen, and more. To top it off, I’ve even designed a collection for them myself! Stay tuned for more details on Wednesday, but in the meantime, grab your colored pencils and markers. You never know when inspiration might strike! --- In case you missed it, here's a quick recap of what we've covered today: We celebrated the creativity of our online tour participants, shared tips for getting started with the Building Block Dress book, and teased an upcoming contest involving fabric exploration and prizes. Oh, and I mentioned my collaboration with Robert Kaufman and hinted at a new collection I've designed for them. Exciting times ahead! Feel free to drop any questions or thoughts in the comments below. I'd love to hear from you!
