your projects: july and august

As summer draws to a close in the Northern Hemisphere, it's been quite the unusual season. Despite the oddity of everything, I'm sure many of us found solace in the joy of sewing. Personally, scrolling through beautifully crafted garments on social media gave me a much-needed break from the chaos. Here’s a collection of some amazing creations shared in July and August. They range from practical pieces to stylish outfits, showcasing the incredible talent within our community. First up, Liesl + Co. has been a source of inspiration. Starting from the top left and moving clockwise: 1. The Bistro Dress by @rrwerner is absolutely charming with its playful horse print. 2. @whosewever’s daughter took charge and created a stunning Metro T-Shirt without assistance—talk about learning by doing! 3. Teal was a fantastic choice for @mazzawazzawoo’s Camp Shirt, especially with the modified patch pocket design. 4. @magicsewingpixie brought a modern twist to the All Day Shirt with those hip florals and added collar stay pockets for an extra touch of professionalism. 5. @sevenstitchesamy had a brilliant idea, transforming the Belgravia Knit Dress into an elegant top in a gorgeous hue. Next, we have some impressive projects from Oliver + S: 1. @sewmelwyk extended the Terrace Dress pattern, adding side slits before sewing it in a striking black-and-white print. 2. @justsewjenna looks effortlessly chic in her navy Gelato Dress, perfect for any occasion. 3. @annette.poole.125’s All Day Shirt is quirky yet classy, complemented beautifully by the background. 4. @whendy7 experimented with fabric choices for her All Day Shirt, resulting in something timeless. The Oliver + S hashtag also saw plenty of action: 1. @melissalkruger’s birthday gift featuring Mandalorian-themed Sunny Day Shorts paired with a matching t-shirt was undoubtedly a hit. 2. @laugreenfield used the Building Block Dress book to craft an adorable dress, highlighting clever use of white accents. 3. The flutter sleeves on @cyndyr’s Lullaby Layette bodysuit are both cute and inventive. 4. @frolickingthreads’ granddaughter looks adorable in her Seashore Sundress, while @floating_light’s scarlet Badminton Top is nothing short of breathtaking. 5. @mountaincraftstyle1 coordinated sister t-shirts using the School Bus T-Shirt pattern, tying them together with complementary colors. 6. @cyndyr picked a delightful floral fabric for her Cartwheel Wrap Dress. What have you been working on lately? Be sure to tag your creations with #lieslandco and #oliverands so we can appreciate your hard work!
