India's textile production fell by 3.32% from April to September this year

According to the CITI report, in the first half of 2011-12, the IIP of the textile and apparel industry showed a negative growth of 3.32% due to the decline in demand in the western market.

The CITI report stated that yarn and fabric production have decreased significantly since May 2011. From April to September, the yarn production decreased to 21.64.7 billion kg, which was a year-on-year drop of 7% compared to the 2.327 billion kg in the same period of last year. During the same period, the production of fabrics (including cotton, blended fabrics, and 100% non-cotton) decreased to 29.298 billion square meters, a decrease of 5.2% year-on-year.
