Pakistani Garment Association President criticizes Textile Mills Association

Ijaz A, president of Pakistan's ready-made garment manufacturers and exporters association (PRGMEA). Khokhar criticized the Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA), saying that they use the government’s financial support for export of 14 billion U.S. dollars in the name of the apparel industry.

He said that the textile industry has 400 billion rupees outstanding, and APTMA's request for a 5% refund on this part of the market is "unfair," so the proportion of the apparel industry in total outstanding financial debt will be small. . In addition, he said, not only the spinning and weaving industry, but also the apparel and value-added textile industries have contributed to this $14 billion export.

According to him, APTMA used the value-added spinning and weaving mills to make adjustments to the spinning and weaving mills, which was inconsistent with the facts.

PRGMEA president said he hopes to correct the record, the apparel industry did not require financial support, just because of the APTMA goal. He said that in the past, APTMA has, for its own benefit, repeatedly distorted practical issues. He said that in the ban on the export of cotton and cotton yarn, APTMA manipulated the situation by demanding a free market mechanism. At the time, the apparel industry was rejected by the European and American markets for the free market mechanism. APTMA exerted influence on President Zardari for the same reason, causing the garment industry to suffer huge losses in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

APTMA tried to influence the government again, saying that the textile industry's 400 billion rupees is likely to become bad, which is not true. On the contrary, he said that only the spinning and weaving industry is burdened with huge amounts of money, but APTMA has given the impression that the entire textile industry, including the apparel industry, has fallen into trouble because of pornography.

He said that APTMA should not choose this unfair practice because of its own interests, and APTMA should not deceive the government again and again.

He said that if it really needs to support the textile industry, APTMA should demand tax refunds, customs tax refunds, and a sales tax rebate for the apparel industry. He said that the government should be required to pay a refund of the local industrial tax and taxation plan for the clothing industry of Rs.23,420 crore.

He said that during 2010-11, the export of registered woven garments increased by approximately 40%, the average unit price doubled, the garment industry used a large amount of high-priced fabrics of different weights, and employed 30% of the 3.5 million laborers in the textile industry chain.
