Hubei's textile industry's main business income will exceed 120 billion yuan

On November 13th, the car became the first 100 billion yuan output value industry in Wuhan. From now on, this newspaper launched a series of reports "One Billion-Billion Industries Look at Hubei", once again focusing on the province's other 100 billion industries and the pillar industries that are being nurtured, depicting the overall industry for you and analyzing the internal impetus for the rapid economic development of the province.

In the past five years, the footsteps of the coastal textile industry's transfer to the central and western regions have accelerated, and the province’s textile industry has undergone major changes. From the “single combat” in the past, it quickly developed into a scale effect.

According to the person in charge of the Hubei Economic and Credit Commission, during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the primary processing industries such as cotton spinning basically completed industrial transfer. In the next five years, terminal industries such as weaving, printing, dyeing and garments will usher in an upsurge of industrial transfer.

Industrial clusters shift from center to suburbs

From the coast to the inland, from the center to the suburbs is a microcosm of the textile industry in recent years. The three major textile mills in Wuhan, namely Wuhan First Cotton, Wuhan Jiangnan and Yudahua, have relocated. Development zones in the outskirts of the city have built nests and attracted phoenixes. Once a large textile factory settled here, it means a new industrial cluster.

From the “dwelling house” in the center of the city, to the opening of a modern industrial park in the suburbs, from the blind pursuit of scale and production capacity, to fully automated production lines and high value-added products, the change of Wuhan Jiangnan Industrial Group Co., Ltd. is a vivid portrayal of the textile industry in Hubei.

Cai Mingwen, deputy general manager of the company, recalled that starting in 2002, the company moved from the urban area to the Yangluo Economic Development Zone. In 2009, the entire relocation was completed and the supporting facilities promised by the government will come naturally.

With the settlement of Wuhan Jiangnan, the industrial park of Yangluo Economic Development Zone has rapidly formed a small industrial cluster and related industries such as textiles, printing and dyeing have been “come together”.

Adding a big company in two days

The entire Hubei textile industry is reborn in the wave of industrial transfer and technological upgrading.

At the end of 2005, the total output value of the province's textile industry was only 42.2 billion yuan, and its main business revenue was 39.6 billion yuan, 895 enterprises above designated size. In the following five years, Hubei textile industry began to move toward the goal of one hundred billion.

In the five years, the output value of more than ten industrial clusters in the province accounted for 30% of the total value of the textile industry. Xiangfan built the province's largest textile and apparel fabrics production base and printing and dyeing processing base Jingmen Li Ning Industrial Park invested 10 billion yuan to build.

The combination of production, study and research is gradually advancing, and a number of new technologies, such as high-efficiency short-flow embedded composite spinning technology, have been promoted in the province. It is expected that the technological transformation funds for the textile industry of the province will exceed 20 billion yuan this year.

By the end of 2009, there were 1591 enterprises above designated size in our province, and 696 in four years, adding an average of two large enterprises on two days. Meierya, Maoren, Aidi and other clothing brands in Hubei Province have become famous throughout the country.

In the first three quarters of this year, the main business income of the textile industry in Hubei Province was 86.5 billion yuan, an increase of 37%. Hubei Economic and Credit Commission estimates that the main business income of the textile industry will exceed 120 billion yuan this year and exceed 100 billion yuan.

Cultivate emerging backward forces

“The 12th Five-Year Plan must continue to undertake the transfer of industries.” The person in charge of the Textile and Textile Department of the Hubei Economic and Information Commission stated that expanding domestic demand has become China’s development direction and the textile industry will undoubtedly gain greater opportunities.

In the draft of the 12th five-year development plan for the textile industry, in addition to undertaking the transfer of coastal industries, the province's textile industry must adjust the structure of terminal products and promote the upgrading of four major industries such as chemical fiber, textile, printing and dyeing, and clothing. At the same time, it has created five major regional structural sections such as the Edong Clothing Corridor, the Yangtze River Industrial Belt, the Jianghan Industrial Belt, the Ramie Specialty Industrial Park, and the silk and silk processing base.

Creating a clothing brand and resolving bottlenecks in the industry are also goals for the next five years. The development of the textile industry in our province is very promising.
