College students scraping chopsticks doing crafts

Students start their own businesses in a variety of ways. One pair of discarded disposable chopsticks becomes a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower, Expo China Pavilion, and tanks. Wuchang Institute of Technology student Li Wenfei is known by his classmates as "chopstick brother." He founded the “Manufacturing Workshop” to start a business with monthly turnover exceeding RMB 5,000.

“When I was in high school, I saw in a magazine that handicrafts made with ice cream sticks were beautiful and I started to be interested in handicrafts. The chopsticks are easy to collect, so I chose it as a material. From the beginning of the freshman year, I was able to make each Kinds of gadgets.” Li Wenfei, a junior in business administration at Wuchang University of Technology, said yesterday.

On the desk of his dormitory, there are large items such as the "Eiffel Tower", "Shenzhou Spaceship", "World Expo China Pavilion" and "Yangtze River Bridge", as well as practical handmade works such as photo frames, pen holders and make-up boxes. He introduced that the main material used for production was the disposable chopsticks used in cleaning canteens.

After drying photos of works on the Internet, someone called talented and powerful. At the school's successful quality display festival, his personal hand-work exhibition was buoyed and inspired his entrepreneurial enthusiasm. At the end of last month, Li Wenfei invested 8,000 yuan to set up a team of “Boy Arts Handicraft Workshops” to sell college students’ own handicrafts. The monthly turnover has exceeded 5,000 yuan.
