2011 Global Textile Economic Summit Forum held at Donghua University

What is the pattern of the world textile economy when the world is in post-financial crisis? What role does China's textiles play in world textiles? Recently, the 2011 Global Textile Economic Summit Forum was held at Donghua University. Hong Pingfan, Director of the Global Economic Monitoring Center of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, together with textile economists and well-known domestic scholars from the United States and Japan, discussed the above issues.

Hong Pingfan believes that world trade has basically recovered to the level before the crisis, but it is still lower than its long-term trend.

Professor Gu Qingliang from the Donghua Textile Economics and Management Research Center expressed his belief that after the liberalization of textiles and clothing trade, the development of the world textile industry in the first decade of the 21st century and the analysis of global industrial networks, the world textile economy is moving toward a new pattern, and the global economy is Benefited from. Gu Qingliang said: "After trade liberalization, the market share of developed countries is declining, but the total trade volume is still rising. And China's textile market share in the global market continues to rise, but the slow growth."

However, Gu Qingliang stressed: "China's textile trade growth is still dominated by its scale and price competitiveness. What needs to be noted is that the price advantage is declining, and the market and products contribute little to the growth of the textile trade." Therefore, he believes that China Textile should optimize market structure and product structure, change the model of low-price competition, take the path of sustainable growth, and implement the strategy of sustainable development.

Sun Ruizhe, vice president of China Textile Industry Association, also stated: “The financial crisis has brought opportunities for the transformation of China's textile industry. It is conducive to the transformation of China’s textile industry from disorderly competition to orderly development. The Chinese textile industry itself needs to be adjusted, even if it does not encounter The stimulation of the external environment will also need to change itself.” Sun Ruizhe believes that Chinese textile companies need to recognize the laws of the operation of the industry chain and focus on a series of issues ranging from products to business to consumption, in addition to their own products.
